Calendula super facial moisturizer
One of our members recently visited Japan and had a look at the Japanese skin care market. In japan (and in Korea) moisturization is the A and O of skin care. They have realized that as far as the skin is not totally hydrated applying any active ingredient on the skin is a waste of money.
I prepared this simple yet effective hydrating emulsion for myself for the fall/winter and I love it so much I decided to share the formulation with you.
Procedure:
1- Heat phase A and B separately in heat proof containers between 80-85 C
2- Stop heating when all of phase B is melted and emulsify the oil phase in the water phase
3- Disperse the gum in the still hot emulsion. Continue stirring while cooling down
4- As the emulsion reaches a temperature <50 C add phase D. Continue stirring
5- At a temperature below 40 C add phase E. We are using a preservative system that works independent of the pH and can add the preservative without measuring the pH
6- Prepare a 10% dilution and measure the pH. Adjust the pH with lactic acid (sorry I didn't mention in the ingredients list) between 4,8-5,3
7- Take your stability and microkit samples and fill the rest in suitable containers
