I personally am too lazy to apply a hair mask under the shower and I am too lazy to make my own hair mask. Women in my culture from the very early age up to their last days use egg yolk hair mask in all variations. They blend the egg yolk with fruits, juices, herbal infusions and oils and apply it over their hair an scalp (my mom in her 80s has much healthier hair than me, so was with my grannie till she passed away). So cutting that short I want something to be easily applied and easily rinsed. This is why the sapogel hair mask is one of the few masks I apply because it is easy to use yet effective.
Today I have another pre-wash hair mask that is easy to apply. This mask nourishes very dry hair (specially pre- and post-menopausal hair which if you are lucky to be in the club, you know exactly how untamed and dry it is).
The formulation is really simple. We are using the Emogreen C69 for its non-greasy skin feel but you can replace it with any heat-resistant oil. The G2B (Glyceryl dibehenate) improves the thermal stability of the balm yet it imparts a juicy texture. It needs however a high temperature for complete melting. The balm reaches its final texture within 3 days so do nut judge the texture immediately. The prolonged process will reduce the risk of graininess which is the nightmare of many formulators.
For simplicity of use and protection against contaminants (the mask is self-preserving on its own until you add water to it) we have filled this mask in tubes. As an alternative you can fill it in airless jars.
Procedure:
1- Melt phase A between 85-90 C
2- When phase A is melted completely add phase B and blend. Stop heating
3- Add phase C and start cooling while stirring.
4- The balm reaches the final texture in about 3 days. You can whip it or fill it as it is in suitable containers
